Description
The iconic Temple of Saturn is thought to have been originally dedicated in 497BC. It was reconstructed in 42BC, destroyed by fire and rebuilt again in 283AD. The inscription reads "Senatus Populusque Romanus
incendio consumptum restituit" which translates to "The Senate and People of Rome restored the temple consumed by fire" referring to that latest reconstruction. The eight remaining columns of the temple ruin are located on the west end of the Roman forum near Capitoline Hill. Black and white.
