Artist's Description

San Antonio Missions National Historic Park - Mission Espada Exterior and Three Bell Steeple- San Antonio, Texas, USA. More Missions photos can be found in my San Antonio, Texas gallery. Founded in 1690 as San Francisco de los Tejas near present-day Weches, Texas, this was the first mission in Texas. In 1731, the mission transferred to the San Antonio River area and renamed Mission San Francisco de la Espada. A friary was built in 1745, and the church was completed in 1756.

About Shawn O'Brien

Shawn O'Brien

Travel-inspired (mostly) Fine Art & Photography published by the likes of Fodors, Travel+Leisure, Southern Living, Smithsonian, Forbes & TIME. I also use my images as source material to create digital art. We travel to places not just to see them, but to experience them. I take pictures to help me remember my experiences. My hope is that my imagery inspires experiential travel to places you might not have called on yet, or, if you have, helps you remember your own experiences. Thanks much for stopping by.
